PROGENIX Family of Grafts

The PROGENIX Family of Grafts is comprised of formulations that are intended to closely replicate the organic matrix found in bone and yield a highly cell-friendly, osteoinductive demineralized bone matrix.1 Both formulations, PROGENIX Putty and PROGENIX Plus, are comprised of demineralized bone matrix combined with a biocompatible carrier to produce a graft that remodels into host bone as evidenced by histologic and radiographic appearance.The PROGENIX Family of Grafts undergoes two-stage osteoinductive testing in the athymic rat model. Results are not necessarily indicative of human clinical use.

Both PROGENIX Putty and PROGENIX Plus use Type I bovine collagen as a carrier for DBM. Collagen is a native environment for growth factors. A 3-dimensional collagen matrix can provide a favorable environment for the attachment, proliferation, and differentiation of in vitro osteoblast-like cells, at least until the initial stage of differentiation.2

PROGENIX® Putty

 
Composition
PROGENIX Putty contains 70% DBM, 11% collagen, and 19% alginate by dry weight. The human DBM particles used range in size from 125-710 μm.

PROGENIX Putty can be delivered directly to small or large intrabony defects through a precise 1mm delivery syringe, allowing for the flowable characteristics of a DBM paste or gel, while still maintaining the moldability of a putty.

PROGENIX Plus contains 60% DBM, 5% collagen, and 35% alginate by dry weight.

PROGENIX Plus is composed of both human DBM particles (125-710 μm) and demineralized cortical chips that range in size from 2mm-4mm. The use of demineralized cortical chips, as opposed to mineralized cancellous chips, provide the patient's own stem cells access to native growth factors uncovered during the demineralization process, including bone morphogenetic proteins.2,3,4 The demineralized cortical chips also act as an osteoconductive scaffold for bone growth while helping maintain space within the 
defect. The surgeon should consider the fact that PROGENIX® Plus contains bone chips of approximately 2-4mm in determining the appropriateness of this allograft for use in smaller defects.
